Manga, anime, and graphic novels have become an inseparable part of our everyday lives. Once dismissed as childish or unimportant, they’ve undergone a major image shift in recent years. Today, stories told in comic form are everywhere — online, in bookstores, on streaming platforms, in cinemas, in fashion, and anywhere people express themselves creatively. They’re a central part of pop culture — and often, we don’t even realize the stories we love originated in that very world.

As interest in these genres grows, so does the desire to create something of your own!
We’re inviting you to the Habibi Kiosk for a beginner-friendly drawing workshop with animator, illustrator, and graphic novelist Berrin Jost. You’ll get the chance to design your own character — a step closer to your very own graphic novel.

After the workshop, join us for a conversation with Berrin about her creative process, how a graphic novel comes to life, and how new works find their audience in such a large and evolving scene.
