Film 01: Weaving Time by Kristina Pujkilovic
Weaving Time portrays the people of Meghalaya (India), who have been creating and maintaining living root bridges made from Ficus elastica for generations.
This unique form of construction reflects a sense of collective responsibility: while men perform the structural interventions, women sustain the bridges through their daily use. This cooperation is rooted in the matrilineal system of the Khasi, in which knowledge and property are passed down through the female line. The bridges are more than just functional infrastructure — they are spiritual sites within a living understanding of nature that demands respect and protection. However, this balance is under threat: from tourism, economic interests, and climate change.
The film highlights the beauty and vulnerability of this cultural heritage — and makes clear that architecture is not a static object, but an intergenerational, social, and living process.

Film 02:
Taming the Garden, Duration: 1h 31min
Online film screening and discussion with filmmaker Salome Jashi
What happens when you want a park — but the old trees are missing? In Taming the Garden, Georgian filmmaker Salomé Jashi follows the monumental undertaking of oligarch Bidzina Ivanishvili, who has around 200 century-old trees uprooted from across Georgia and transported over long distances for a private dendrological park. The images are surreal, almost fairytale-like — and at the same time deeply unsettling.
The film powerfully illustrates the consequences of these “transplantations”: disrupted landscapes, confused village communities — and an act of power that raises questions about ownership, nature, and responsibility.
