READ THE ROOM – PERFORMATIVE READINGS

Presents contemporary texts by Munich-based authors, performed scenically by Munich actors and performers. In the third edition of our new ZIRKA series, artist Anna McCarthy, together with actress Charlotte Huber, will read excerpts from her latest publication, The Hills Have Crazy Eyes – Woman in a Landscape. The book includes a script from the performance of the same name, staged in May 2024 at the Schauspielhaus of the Munich Kammerspiele. The text is a German/English assemblage combining personal experiences and quotations on violence against women, narrated through the lens of nature perception and alpinism. It is accompanied by sketches, drawings, and paintings created during McCarthy’s climbing expeditions in the mountains. The publication is released by Edition Taube, supported by Stiftung Kunstfonds. The first section, Trickles & Oozes, was pre-released in May. The evening will feature musical accompaniment by Manuela Rzytki.
