event information:

Due to limited seating, please register At the reading, “Over from the other side – Novels on the Border”
we embark on a literary journey along a line that is not really a line: between Mexico and the USA, between fiction and testimony, between colonial history and postmodern storytelling. We will read from texts that shift both geographical and narrative boundaries and ask what border literature can achieve today.

A reading hosted by glitch bookstore in cooperation with the Institute for General and Comparative Literature (LMU)

An evening for everyone who feels that borders don’t just run across maps, but through bodies, languages, and stories. An evening not only about crossing borders but also questioning how we read – including optional textual crises.

We will read from novels that shift not only geographic but also narrative boundaries:

Lost Children Archive by Valeria Luiselli, where obsessive documentation meets child disappearance;
Gringo Champ by Aura Xilonen, where boxing and migration step into the ring together;
Blood Meridian by Cormac McCarthy, which deconstructs the Western as a founding myth of the USA;
2666 by Roberto Bolaño, where femicides become a structural element and investigation leads astray; Telephone by Percival Everett, proving that some stories can only be heard in echoes;
Wandering Stars by Tommy Orange, in which the violence of the past haunts the present and the history of a Cherokee family.

Light snacks and drinks will be provided.
