HANDJOB

event information:
Tell me about the softest and the hardest thing you’ve ever touched. Open your hands for me.
HANDJOB is a lecture performance about the interplay between hands and desire. We gather knowledge and impulses from professionals who express themselves through HANDS – via tattooing, jewelry, nail art – as well as through performative practices and dance, where HANDS and/or DESIRE play a central role. HANDJOB will make you laugh and surprise you.
Tell me how I feel pressure, vibration, temperature, shape, weight, volume, and surface texture. About the exteroceptors, the hair follicle sensors, the Merkel cells, Ruffini endings, Meissner’s and Pacinian corpuscles in my hand. About how I also perceive force, position, and movement – when touching or almost touching – when I let my hand hover over your arm – without touching, but close enough for you to feel my warmth.
Tell me where you want to be touched – and were not. Can you hold my hand? Open it. Do you find rough, scarred, well-cared, dirty-from-work, hairy, smooth, small, or big hands beautiful?
