Lecture & Discussion on Men’s Alliances, Male Fantasies & Critical Masculinity With Christoph May – Institute for Critical Masculinity Research / Detox Masculinity Institute Thursday, December 5, 2024, 7pm Men’s alliances refer to male-dominated monocultures in business, politics, culture, and science. Male fantasies examine portrayals of men and male narratives in series and films. Critical masculinity addresses the question of how to accelerate the critique of men and male-dominated structures. Male-dominated cultures of violence, silence, and obstruction prevent progress in areas such as climate protection, diversity, intersectional feminism, social engagement, and much more. How can we critically discuss masculinity? What privileges do men enjoy simply because they are male? Why is structural inequality in politics, business, culture, and media often a blind spot for men? Should we introduce limits for men instead of quotas for women to ensure men take responsibility?
